About IIITDM Kancheepuram
Indian Institute of Information Technology, Design & Manufacturing Kancheepuram is an Institute of National Importance established in 2007 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India to pursue design and manufacturing- oriented engineering education and research and to promote the competitive advantage of Indian products in global markets. It is fast gaining a reputation as a go-to destination for education and research in product design and manufacturing across three streams – computer, electronics and mechanical. It is one of the three IIITDMs in the country, the other one being in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh whereas IIITDM Kurnool is currently mentored by IIITDM Kancheepuram. The institute, which was operating from its temporary campus within the Indian Institute of Technology-Madras, which was also its mentor institute, moved to its permanent campus near Chennai in 2011. It is a fully residential campus with all students residing within the campus. The institute offers academic and research programs that integrate engineering design, manufacturing and management with information technology. The institute offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs which focus on IT, design and manufacturing in engineering sectors.
The faculty members of the Institute are also involved in sponsored and consultancy research projects from reputed industries and government organizations. Admissions to the UG and PG programs are based on scores in the highly competitive JEE Mains and GATE examinations respectively. The institute attracts students for Undergraduate, Dual Degree, and Post Graduate programs who are on par with the IITs and IIITs. Read more
